View Full Version : voltage regulator question
I need a voltage regulator for my garden tractor. Dealer price is $100, 20amp rating.
Is there some kind of generic voltage regulator which I can get for a lot less than $100 that will work OK in the circuit?
Will appreciate any info on how to get by for less than the dealer $100.

have you tried your local napa or car part store?
You will need to supply make and model # plus the year built, engine size.

I've picked up a few off ebay for between $8 and $15. The 20A version will be hard to find though. Give a look--Beats $100!

You can get a Briggs Voltage Regulator number 691185 (old number 394890) new for $70 or find an old one on a junk mower. I have hooked them up to several models of engine besides Briggs. If you are good building such things you can build a 20 Amp model for about $25 or so.
Are just about any of the solid state ones on Ebay OK for my purpose?

These two are Briggs units and they are the ones I would look at. They can be put on almost any engine
