Im looking @ Echo model 46 $350.00 @ Home Depot 1 yr. com. guarentee. It weights 23#'s which is more than most other BP. Redmax same blower is 369.00 but I think it is better built .

I can only sing the praises of the sthil bp-400. there are better blowers out there according to reports but there ween't when I bought, which was about 5 years ago.
5 years. and no real complaints.... if I were you, I'd check out the bp-400.
the bottomline...power is everything. go for it!;)

I run a Stihl BR320. Not the hugest machine out there but I got a good deal on it and it was the only blower my dealer (soon to be shut down) had at that time and I needed one pretty badly. I really like the power I get from it for being a lower end machine. It does all that I need it to do. What's the point of having a huge Backpack Blower if the majority of it's use is just to blow sidewalks off? I used it when I did a leaf cleanup and it performed better than I would have thought. I had a pile of knee deep leaves that was 6 feet wide and 15 feet long and the leaves were semi-wet. I finished doing that and some final cleanup in around 20 mins. The whole trick to blowing leaves is knowing where to move them next. Productivity is the key.

Scag48, I really like the power I get from it for being a lower end machine.
Stihl products are not lower end machines.
By the way, the BR-340 is replaceing the BR-320.

Guys.....I am a Sthil fan and have the BR400, BUT the Shindaiwa EB630 blows the Sthil away!!! I highly reccomend you try the Shindawa or Redmax before buying anything. WOW!!

I've used echo - kawasaki - lesco - stihl. The ones I like the most for high power, light weight and dependability is STIHL.

I've got 2 hand-helds:
Echo PB210 - light, blows hard, nice grip & trigger-feel.
Robin FL231 - got it new for $125 (that's about all I can say that's good about it - parts are nowhere to be found, the case/housing is hard plastic (it chipped), it has a wimpy blow.
So, ummmm... I guess I'd go with the Echo.

I work in a completely "developed" area - so I took the spark-arrestors off - it improved performance slightly (though now I just can't take my blowers when I go to the local Cleveland National Forest)

I have two shindaiwa bp blowers. A eb480 and a eb630. The 630 is the best thing out there!! Its the same thing as the redmax big bp blower(I think the 7000?) This machine is awesome, just bring your gas can, because this thing goes through some gas, quick!!
STIHLis my favorite most everything.ARTHURITUS
made me go to hand held craftsman and it does
blow hard, volume is too small for leaves though.

I've always liked Shindaiwa equipment and used a 42cc BP blower until Redmax came out with the EB6200. This was before Shindaiwa had their bigger blower. I went with the Redmax and I've had no problems with it and it is either 3 or 4 seasons old. As Ray said, either one of them are powerful units.
awm, Shindaiwa makes a hand held that will blow those Echos or Sears away. Well maybe not away, but it's not a bad unit.

Stihl BR 400 has been great for me. First thing in the morning, 2 pulls with the choke on 2 with the choke off and away I go. I have never had any problems with it. I will be buying another in a couple of months.
