i'm using gladiola bulbs as my wedding favors. i packed them singly in tulle and am storing them in a plastic bag (three weeks ago) . i looked at them today and they seem to be growing roots already. my questions are: is this going to ruin them by the wedding in 4 weeks? how should i store these(200 of them)? how do i keep them from growing more at this point? :help:
thanks, holly

Im taking a wild guess here, but maybe in a closet where it is dark, or a basement where it is cool and dark? Hopefully some one will chime in here in a few minutes

Hang them in a cool, 40-45 degree dry location.
This should slow down any development.
As for ruining them for the wedding, I am a little hesitant to even comment on that one just in case... ;)
But I think you will be pretty safe if you get those roots slowing down.

Store your bulbs in a porous bag or a shallow tray filled with dry
peat moss, perlite, vermiculite or sand.
Store them in a dry, cool
(35 to 45 degree Fahrenheit area. Like under the house

One more idea. The fridge...
A nursery where we get our soft plant materiels refridgerates a lot of plant materiel.
