I have to completely remove a couple of large Pampas Grass plants and have two quick questions:

-- Read in some of the older threads to use a chain saw to flush cut the Pampas Grass. Isn't that rather dangerous? What if the leaves catch the chain?

-- Can I use a large stump grinder to dig out the roots (after flush cutting)? Don't have a Bobcat and the stump grinder will beat the shovel method, I hope….

We just tie them with string and cut them down with a hedge trimmer.

just shave them out with a shovel etc.

don't try and dig deep, just sharpen a shovel and shave along the bottom of the pampas.

have one person pull away from you so it lifts the plant up.

the pampas will NOT regenerate from the roots, so you can leave the bulk of them in the ground.
