What is the best way to smooth out mulch after i install it. I was thinking about useing a landscape rake (48in) but that wont fit in to tight spots so any other suggestion technigues?

I myself do it by hand on smaller jobs, but if it is large a bow style garden rake upside down works aswell

i use a fan rake on the large areas and by hand in the tight spots.

i have a super small bamboo rake that i flip upside down and pack the mulch that way. I use a large rake for large jobs.

Fan rake or turn pitch fork upside down. In real tight spots with a lot of work we turn to the potato fork.

I use a steel spring rake mostly, regular and upside down. Then I knock any little lumps and humps off with the BP blower.

Pitch it first-then a spring rake turned upside down-

we get it fairly smooth w/ long-handles 6-time forks in a side to side motion when spreading it. to fie tune it, we too will flip a spring rake upside down & rake through it.
