Anybody else care to post their rates....

I see a lot of people bicker about getting lowballed, and I am curious what others are charging to make sure I am asking enough and not lowballer others.....

What are you paying for the loam. That seems a bit outrageous for loam installed.

I add $5.00 to the price per yard for mulch and then I double that for the install. So if I pay 17 a yard for some black root mulch I charge 22 for the mulch and 22 per yard for the install. Oh if I have to have it delivered the customer pays for that also. It works for me.

$65 per yard includes delivery, bed edging, application of SnapShot, install, and clean-up. I usually get mulch for around $12 per yard.

Same as Battags!! I can't believe guys would do it for $18 a yard, thats crazy, cheapest I can get it for is $18 unless I buy from a wholesaler at 65 yds per shot.

Reading this I would have to say that edging , dethatching and debris cleanup are an additional charge to your spring cleanup?

Thats what I am asking...For $22 above his mulch costs I would hope not.

Even if I didn't have to edge the beds my pricing would be higher than that.

That's a good thing. I am sick of hearing customers saying they can get mulch for like $18-$22 a yard. I am charging roughly $60 and that is for delivery and install only no prep work! :waving:

i'm new to the landscape business and this thread has been helpful, i wasn't sure how to charcge people for mulch beds. how do you figure the how much a yard is gonna cover? is it by the square foot? like you know 1 yard will cover like a a 6 x 6 area so 36sqft? also is this for a new bed from scratch or a bed that needs refreshing? also how do you guys charge for spring cleanups? do you just do a hourly rate and figure how long you'll be there or do you figure your mowing rates in? like i've heard people say double your mowing price for aeration. is $30 - $40 an hour per person sound legit for a spring clean-up?

thanks bill

When you guys say bed prep, what exactly does that mean for an established bed? Also, is it reasonable to do mulch first and then go back and add in plants? I have a customer that wants mulch and hasn't decided yet on what they want to plant.

Thanks!

Bed prep is picking up any debris, edging and turning over the mulch that already exists.
Here is a good mulch calculator http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=18941.

Hope this helps a bit,

I charge:

20.00 per yd to lay only. ( mulch, topsoil),,, the cost of the material it's self is then added to it. if the customer wants the cheap stuff.. 15 a yd.. or the expensive 30.00 yd stuff doesnt matter to me. I still want my 20 to rake it out.
prep work is completly different.. some beds may only need "freshed up" while others may need exstinsive work edging, tilling, weeding ,, etc..

I try to base my quotes to the customer at 50.00 per man per hr. and then when where there actully working I constintly push my self to better that to make more per hr by working faster.

I think $50 is the average per hour. I have been doing some research around the north-shore and that is what customers are paying by the hour. (just for the labor)
