:help: I HAVE A 1983 DODGE RAM 350 DUMP TRUCK I JUST PRCHASED IT FROM A STATE AUCTION IT HAS ONLY 41,000 MILES ON IT.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I TURN IT OFF, REMOVE THE KEY IT STILL RUNS FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN IT FINALLY SHUTS OFF. THE MOTOR IS A 318 4 BARREL :help: :help:

Its called "dieseling" check your timing and idle speed.

It's probably the timing.

Just turn it back on, tap the gas a few times and then turn off the ignition. Works on my 318 !

sounds like the choke might be sticking a little bit, might try getting a different heat range plug

If it's fuel injected, it may be a faulty fuel shutoff solenoid.

more then likely timming related but could also be from carbon in the cylanders the carbon gets hot and will act like a glow plug and ignite the fuel in the intake even with the key off. if timming dosent take care of it take it to a shop and let them do a air induction flush then take it out and drive it at high rpms for a few miles that should take care of it

I would say it is timing related.

Umm, did you miss the part were it said 83 and 4 barrel.

Like everyone said, check your timing, let us know if that solves the problem.
