What keeps grapemertills from blooming?

I'll take a guess you mean Crape Myrtle.
They bloom on new growth each year.
They need full sun for best color.
Prune out crossing and dead branches, tip back last years seed pods from the spent blooms.

Lagerstroemia "Crape Myrtle"In cool summer regions they flower less.Prune in early spring or winter to increase flowering remove spent flowers and dont prune off the new wood.Water them Infrequently but deeply.
