What kind of grass are you cutting? Sure you cut fescue 3 to 4 inchs... but you cut bermuda, zoysia, and st. augustine at a much lower level. What do you have in your area?

We got Kentucky Blue, Rye, and Fescue... cut them at 3" unless the customer really has a good reason for something different.

Just under 3" measured on average. Our mowers say 4 1/4" on the height adjustment, on concrete.

I've cut lawns as low as 3/4" with my tru-cut. but most of my lawns are cut between 2.5"- 3.5"

In Florida:

I cut St augustine at 4 in winter and 4.5 in spring and summer.

Bahia if irrigated and a nice lawn winter at 3.5 and 4 in summer
if not irrigated winter 3 and summer 3.5

Don't do any of the others.

For St augustine basically as high as you can get a good cut.

All I cut is St. Augustine, If the customer doesn,t say anyhting i cut it at about 3.5", But i have alot of customers that have ignored my advice, and they like it cut extremely short. And then I got my customers that are Lawn Junky's and want their grass cut at the highest setting of my mower. Thats why a float deck is a must for me, I need the quick change of height.

3 inches mostly. I have a few I do at 2 and half. Sometimes I will cut at what looks good. If it seems like I'm taking too much off, I raze the deck a little. Some guys around here still use Locke Mowers and they cut at an inch and a half year round.
