can't edit post

could you please explain to me why I can't edit posts. I don't understand the 10 minute rule

You have 10 minutes to edit a post after it has been submitted for view, after 10 minutes you can only post again to the thread not edit a previous post

go to the post you want to edit and if it is within 10 minutes you can edit it...the edit button is on the lower right hand side of your post
