Got a call to quote this job. Very nice people although I have yet to meet them face to face.

The lot is 75,150 sq ft....or 1.7 acres. Pine trees in yard, in ground pool. 700' of edging which includes pool deck, driveway, and sidewalk. Large natural area in front yard (pine straw, no flowers, pine cone pickup only). The man wants the works, or in other words, mow, edge, blow, trim, weed flowerbeds only when needed.

This house in my area is most likely a $250,000 to 300,000 house.

I know what I am already looking at for money but am interested in your opinion.

There will be several pictures to follow.

I dont know about picking all those pine cones up , that takes a lot of time. That is a good bit of trimming also. My ballpark figure would be between $150 -$200 per trip.

Nice property - looks like they have grubs.

I would bid $65 - heck you do not even have curbs on the property. It looks like a 35 minute job.. Thanks

No Joke about the 35 minutes. What is the problem with $120 per hr. one machine?

bobbygedd

did they actually require a school for dentists? $120 an hour is great, if you can actually make $960, solo, in an 8 hr day. BUT YOU CAN'T! so stop with the hourly rate crap. the job looks like it will be a disasterous mess on a weekly basis, and pure hell after a rain / wind storm.

I agree $150 to $175 a pop no less and Flexdeck you go ahead and try it in 35 min- mow, edge, blow, clean beds and do pinecones,I'm willing to place good money that you couldent get it done in twice that time.

I would have to bid that at $70-75.00 per cut. Weeding.. separate price.

Probably take me an hour and fifteen minutes.

Without even figuring time for picking up the pine cones I see around at least 2 1/2 hours per visit as miniumum - lots of edging and trees in back yard to trim around

2.5 hours... are you kidding me? Anyone that knows what they are doing will be done under 1.5 hours.

Not going to get in a pi$%ing match about this but 75 bucks wont get it with me for that amount of work thats its going to take pine cones and pine trees are a pita and weeding can take alot of time ...... go ahead and do it for 65 bucks to 75 bucks if you want but i sure wouldnt .... maybe ask bobby gedd what this would bring up there

Merlin I'd also work real hard on selling them a Fert, Seeding and Aero pakage cause that lawn looks like crap.

Well...believe it or not...the grass around here is still just coming out of dormancy. My yard is still brownish and I do fertilize every spring and fall. The yard has good centipede turf but I did see a few problem areas.

Well after crunching the numbers today while at the property, using my figures, I came up with a price of $125 a visit. Thats the highest residential I have ever quoted for sesonal maintenance so I got a little gunshy about it.

The yard does have a lot of pine trees and pine cones. I was lucky, I got to see the property right after a tremendous downpour so that helped to determine a few things.

I am going with a recomendation of a few on this site in that I am going to go ahead and quote it at that price. I am a believer of when it comes to a property of this type....too low of a bid can actually be worse than too high. I am worried that if I dont come in with a substanial bid that the homeowner might think that I do shoddy work and that I am way outta my league. After walking the property I was "guesstamating" that it would take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to complete.

It is actually a very nice property other than a few bad items. The house is really nice.

Well called the guy today and gave him the quote. Currently he told me he is mowing the yard with a rider and is just tired of doing it.

He was suprised by my quote ($125) and said he expected $40....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..............so needless to say...people with money DO NOT want to spend it....

Oh well, wrote a yearly contract tonight in place of that one....more money...less travel and aggrevation! payup

i say 175 a month year around, easy maintence except the pain cones, that is going to take time to pick them up,they are such a pain, right now i just run over them with walker and pic them up, but in 2 weeks, back to mulching, good luck, but i wouldnt touch it for 40 per cut

You got to be nuts
You say you wont touch it for 40 but 175 a mounth comes out to 43.75 a cut. I guess that 3.75 make that much of a differnce huh ??
I would bid 150 and have two kids run around and pick the pine cones up they love them things !!!!!

The kids was a joke !!
