use a laser range finder, shoot the lines, multiply yds by 3 the LxW to get your sq ft quickly.
and to get your acreage divide sq. ft. by 43,560, that the sq ft in an acre.

simply wheel the area and multiply width x length. Then when you get the hang of it you can comfortably estimate smaller jobs without worry.
If you have a GPS, simply walk the property boundy. Start at the drive entrance, walk the boundry back to the drive, then up the other side of the drive to the house and around til you get back to your starting poing. The GPS will tell you the size of the area covered. I am going to use this way, because I have a GPS that can do it for me. If you don't have a GPS, then I guess the wheel and range finder are the thing to do.

100 ft X 150 ft=15000 sq ft.

I'll tell you right now to NOT guess. Starting out guessing and guessing wrong will cost you. Those wheels are very affordable and worth every penny. I measure every property for a couple of reasons. Obviously to see how big it actually is but also to see what the property looks like from all sides. It gives you a reason to snoop around the lawn and see what it looks like. You will eventually know that certain yards are X amount of square feet by looking at them from the curb but I still like to walk every one.
