I don't try to quote by the square foot for the simple reason that such a number fails to account for:

1) The slope, if any, of the lawn;
2) The amount of edging and trimming;
3) Whether I can get a 52" or 36" mower through the backyard gate; and
4) What shape the terrain and turf are in (you know, tree roots sticking out and so on).

You may want to consider your hourly rate, figure out how long it'll take to mow, and go from there. First things first, though. How big is the lot and what kind of mower are you using? If you have too small a mower for a lot, your hourly rate won't likely stand up unless it's low because an LCO with more efficient equipment can do the job faster than you.
