We run some Toro 52's and get great results with the regular blades.

might want to try a set of gator mulching blades, sometimes they help on early spring growth . the best thing to due is keep them sharp!!

If you're going to mulch, then use standard lift mulching blades and keep them sharp. Mulching St.Augustine during the high growth season (May, June, July) is tough to do unless the blades are sharp, sharp and did I say...sharp! Gators are good if the grass is dry, But I've found that wet St. Augustine will produce fewer clumps with standard lift mulchers. I use Gators early in the season (right now) and then switch to standard lift blades beginning in early May and use them until October when the grass begins to slow down. Then it's back to the Gators.
