What do u guys think of my new rig. Got the f-150 durin the winter, but just bought the new 16' trailer. I customized it myself did a bront box, that weights a TON (really i could only pick it up with a crane) and did 2 blower racks a 3 place trimmer rack. I only have a few pictures right now but when I get everything on the trailer tomarrow again ill take some more picts.

The trimmer rack isn't welded on in any of these picts

Nice looking trailer, and I really like the box on the front. Did you weld it or buy it allready made. I dont have any welding skills or I would try to make one

Yea I cut and welded it up all myself, well with some help. But yea the ones I saw and that someone would have made me for 1000$ was all made out of angle iron and i wanted square tubing. So cost about 300$ for material verses 1000$ for one with angle iron and no racks.

I love that trailer! (i generally like open-trailers to begin with).

Not too keen on the truck, but nice job with trailer.

Nice trailer. I really like the gate. (ramps incorporated in the gate) Good for loading tractor.

That is a nice trailer, where did you get it and if you don't mind, how much did it run you before the additions?

Nice trailer, if I was to get a open trailer, I'd get one like that.

HAHA and everyone always says use the search function, this is what happens. How much was the trailer stock? I like that strengthen gate!

Do you have any problems pullin' the trailer with the F150?

brbsta
03-01-2006, 06:18 PM
No I have no problem at all towing it with it. Can't really even tell its back there till you want to come to a stop, without the brake controller the trucks brakes would be gone pretty past, even with it right now they are still not that good after one season. Used a Ram with Hemi before the f150 and its toes about just as good with alot better gas milage.

NO BRAKE CONTROLER??? Man, get one FAST! I presume the trailer has brakes already? I love having brakes on the trailer, it does save a ton of wear and tear on the truck and it is infinately SAFER too! Pretty scary having a loaded trailer shoving you thru an intersection on wet streets, or not being able to get stopped in time to avoid a small car or something.

What's your tounge weight? Sometimes I wish I had a rack on mine, but I'd want it as light weight as possible... Certianly looks good though!!!! That trailer will definately haul more than just some mowers!

I do have a brake controller on it now , said it would be bad without it. For the first week I didn't have its on cause it still didn't come in the mail and it wasn't that good. I don't know my exact tongue wait but there is alot. With that box in the front it ads ALOT of weight. I made it out a really thick gage of steel of which now i would probly redo if I had the chance. But I try and keep the motor of the Z over the weels to keep it down as much as possible. If you see I have a electric jack, got that the first time I took it off teh truck fully loaded. Wasn;t not going to do that every day. With it all loaded up with the walk behind and the Z and everything it evens out my truck and the back is 2" higher then the front so that is pretty nice.

What are the dimensions of the rack you made & how high from the trailer floor is the bottom of the rack? I have also been thinking about building one. I can get 2x2x1/8 square tube for just under $1.00/ft. Probably more than I need, but can't beat the price. Thank you for the info.

I have a CAD file that I made to build it to, let me see if I can find it and I will give it to you. If I can't I will go and take all the dimensions for it.

Wait...I'm a little confused did you build the entire trailer or just the box?

Either way it looks good and so does your truck...good luck man.

welding isn't hard (with a good welder). just get some scrap and start. there is a link here to welding forum, i haven't looked at it, but if it's relacted to l.s., should be all you need as far as info.:weightlifter:
