Anthony, you wated to long to get your first application material. Urea prices have jumped about 60.00 bucks per ton since January. Most of our raw urea is coming from Korea. The companiesher e in the states are selling their natural gas and not producing urea. I got Shaw's w/ Pre-m for $ 9.40
a bag 9 ton and my round two material also aon the second week of January. Early bird gets the worm or you pay. Supply and demand, fert, prices will moderate later in the year they always do.
hi rodney, nice to here from you .i just woke up from a long winter nap, called lesco and there prices went up.!
what is your analysis on the shaws?
if i read your post write, did you apply an application already?

Anthony -
We have a couple of different brands of Pre-emergent in stock now, including the Shaw's brand, which is comparable to the Lesco product you have priced. Our prices for sale to landscapers buying 1-2 pallets of the product are about what you have quoted. Prices for less, like by the bag, are higher.
Since we re-wholesale product, I locked in last year to avoid the jump in Urea prices which Rodney mentioned. We just received a trailer load, so I know Spring is just around the corner!
Rodney - I suspect that you pay pretty low prices for Shaw's brand because it is made in your backyard?
Rodney Anderson

The analysis on the product is 19-3-8 25% scu.
I m not sure were it was made its in my warehouse but it comes from Shaw's with their bag and logo.

Lesco's prices dont seem much higher than last year. You will regret it if you put down 25% nitrogen.... in the spring the grass grows a inch a day as it is!
Rodney Anderson

The product doesnt have 25% urea, 25% scu. When applied Ill be appling just under 3/4 lb. N. In the fall I only apply 1/2 N and a full lb. K. The lawn wont get to far out control. Besides I dont mow.Dont need the hassels.

If it makes a difference Lesco does not buy Korean urea. They have a six month reserve on US urea. To say Shaw has Pre-M is mis leading, Pre-M is a trade mark for Lesco. Shaw might have Pendimethilan but not the Pre-m.
Another key difference Lesco use PPscu which is polymer a more controled release the the cheaper old school scu..
I havent used much Shaw but what i did use one time was dusty and dirty.
I'll stay with Lesco, better service and they have a strong commitment to th green industry..
just my opinion

come to ohio and see how poorly you ac be treated by lesco. I do not patronize them! I've been using Shaw's for 11 years and have been very happy. I thought pendamethalin was a product of Cyanamid.

Some of you guys that go through a large amount will see prices near $13/bag for whatever pre-emergent you're looking for, maybe even less depending on where you are, where you buy it, and timing. Fert prices have been down again for awhile, and both Dow and Syngenta have recently dropped pricing on the Dimension and Barricade tech material used to make your favorite combo product.

YO, You're not going to get RCreech pricing. He buys tractor trailer loads, he buys wayyyyy early, he also is very close to the manufacturing plants.
I buy trailer loads and pay more than he does just based on shipping to get it to me.
You buying 2 pallets is not a ton of buying power. Although the prices you quoted do seem high, look around locally, JDL is not the only game in town.
It also sounds like you need to do some research and learn a bit more about products and applications and not just focus on how to get a bag of fert cheaper

Ditto, RC knows his stuff. Our best prices the past year or 2 come from CPS & Zimco. They both use several suppliers, but most of the time it's made in Eau Claire, WI by EC Grow.

It's too bad you choose to spend that amount on "who knows what?" from China. I could have had 6,000 lbs of Nutrients PLUS 4-3-1 organic fertilizer (made in USA) delivered to your shop in Delaware for $1356.00.

yo dude, if you can get me that amount close to that price this spring- mid summer. i will purchase it from you...i have been maintaining 90 percent of my lawns for the past 7-8 years... all they need is pre-mergent in the spring and dry fert the rest of the year. and insect control in the summer.we used to use nutrients plus where i used to work.' not a lot but some times...i think organic is the best fertilizer for any lawn..i believe it helps the turf hold its color longer in the fall and green up early in the spring..straight potassium will help green up a lawn in weeks before most lawns in the early spring...it is also better in the summer month, less chance of burning and srtressing the lawn.if u are serious on that quote, the when in order again i will be in touch with you definetly, because that is a very good price...do they come in50lb bags? and is that 3-pallets..would you be able to get me 1-pallet of a pre-mergent for 2010 spring.. by mid feb-to end of feb.i know the price may change but what ever u can do would be a big help thanks jerry alexander...

... all they need is pre-mergent in the spring and dry fert the rest of the year...
Not necessarily so.
Really, normal mom & pop residential turf doesn't need pre-emergent at all except maybe for around high stress areas like hard-edge perimeters like sidewalks & driveway edges.
They dry out 1st and get hotter, obviously, so they're likely to have more problems with weeds in general.
If the focus of the vendor & the customer both are on TURF DENSITY (the customer being informed of proper mowing / irrigation habits, etc) together as a team they can reduce and possibly eliminate entirely the use of selective herbicides by means of developing a turf that over time will in essence choke out (most) weeds before they ever get a chance to gain much if any foot hold.
A lot of focus has to be on seeding for thin &/or weedy lawns.
I know that Rodney understands this. :waving:
And smarter cultural practices like this will be part of the overall trend of 'greener' lawn care during the balance of this 21st century we're now in.
