HELP....My Yews are brown

We have 5 yews in our front flower beds. The two that are in the same bed are fine. There are 3 in another bed together and 2 of them are mostly brown with a little yellow mixed in. I'm not really up on my shrubs, so I thought some of you shrub guys could help me out. What do you think the problem is? Are they to far gone to save?
We had a new roof put on this winter, and the roofers covered them with tarps. It appears thet some of the top branches were broken off in the process. Could this be the cause???

Can you get a pic?Most likely the tarps caused damage to them,how long were they covered.Are they draining ok or in standing water when it rains?Is there a downspout that flows into the bed?Did the roofers releive themselves on them??

The tarps were only on them for 6 hours or so. These plants have been in this bed for several years, and the drainage is the same as always, good.

I would hope they didn't relieve themselves on the Yews, the are in the front yard.
