can anyone tell we how to adjust the govenor on a 17 hp kaw it seems all my problems are leading back to adjustment of the govenor thanks

If you have to ask, don't even try to adjust any governor. The governor probably isn't the problem unless someone has attempted to adjust it.

Ok Mr Dane, First thing you want to do is put your throttle control in the wide
open position or choke if you dont have a separate choke cable.
With the cable set, Locate the gov. arm (the carb. linkage hooks to it).
Loosen the retaining screw slightly that holds the arm on the shaft,Rotate
the shaft in the same direction that the arm is turning the shaft when you
go to full throttle. Retighten the screw very carefully so the arm doesn't
move on you, do not over tighten this screw it could damage the arm.

Hey Oldtimer its not for us to Question why ! This is a Help Forum !!!!
After a engine gets so many hours on it the gov. should be checked and
adjusted.

IF YOU CAN'T OFFER ANY HELP DON'T BOTHER POSTING :cool2:

Rotate the shaft until it stops moving,But dont apply too much pressure.
When it stops the other end of the shaft is touching the center pin on the gov. gear,Thats why you don't want the arm to move when you tighten the retaining screw.
