I have been asked to create some mulch beds for a customer where they have several pine trees in a row. Customer seems like kind of a pain and wants to see what the pattern looks like laid out on the lawn before i make the initial cut between the grass and where the mulch will go. Do they make any kind of spray paint or something that i can safely put down to show the customer where i will be cutting before i do so? Thanks

Rope...Let him decide, then spray paint it.

Use a rope or a hose. This will help give a great outline. Then mark and cut.

With the rope or hose you can make any changes with little effort. When the client is happy with what it looks like, then you are done.

You can also use flour or line chalk

we usually leave marking flags with the customer and let them mark where they want the bed edges. Flags are easily moved by customer. Then when they like the outline, you can "connect the dots" with marking paint.

You can buy these marking flags by the handful at Lowes/HD and they are reuseable. Been doing it this way for years and the customers really like being able to tweak the edges easily.
