replace scag engine

I have a scag 52 three- wheel mower. The kohler 18 horse engine is no longer available as a replacement. I would like a new engine so we will be trouble free. I heard you could replace the kohler with a kawasaki 17 horse engine or something similar? Has anyone ever done this on a skag mower?? Is there a lot of wiring changes or other complications??

james thank you for the help i will call . the kohler is spec 58527 modle mv18s or modle mv188 hard to read new to forum stuff this info is for the fist post i made hope it shows up on the thread thanks again
