How much sleep do you need during the busy days of growing season? What are your thoughts? Any comments on sleeping?

I feel the same way John does. Most of the growing season , I average btw 4 and 6 hours a night. If I get more sleep I get lazy.

Less in the summer--5-6 hours.
Once late August/September hits it catches up and I can go 8-9 hours everyday through the winter. I am starting to wake early again since spring is around the corner.

4 to 6 in the summer and 6 or 7 in the winter. I'm starting to wake up with the sun now too. Getting in my spring mode. Maybe when I get old, I'll need more. :)

I could use about 12 hours of sleep ;)

In all seriousness though, I'm a night owl, easily able to stay up to 2:30am. So I'm going to have to start weaning myself of the late nights, and get myself back down to going to bed around 11:30. That way I'll be able to be up by 6:30am. We usually don't start till about 9:00 am, but I can't just crawl out of bed and go. I need time to adjust to the morning. :)

Matt on the other hand, is a morning person. It's nothing for him to get up early.

I work midnight at UPS. I get in around 4:30 and get back up around 9:00 and start mowing. Im like everyone else if I get too much sleep I don't feel like doing anything.

I need about 7 hrs during the season. Doesn't matter off season, but like the rest of you I'm getting up w the sun now.

i usually sleep 5 hrs regardless. If I go to bed earlier I just wake up earlier, about 5 hrs later! As I get older though it ain't nothing for me to nod out in the middle of the afternoon, something I could never do when I was younger. If I get still for very long I'm gone!!!!!

I can survive on 5 hours a night. However a 15 minute recharge ( a.k.a. power nap)in the afternoon, will keep me going strong for the next 4 hours.

I found out during "Hell week" in boot camp that a person can last days on very little. Unfortunately, I have used this now for the last 10 yrs. I'm great on 5 hours but can go on 2 or 3 hrs. I do my best thinking and working late at night, but that means to make the $$$ you need to be out early.

In season 5-6 hours in bed, plus about 1 hr in the lazy boy reviewing the ceiling.

The thing i hate is when you work a real long day say for instance 7am to 730pm, then you go home eat and take a shower. By that time its 930pm and your tired as hell, so you decide to crash. Then the alarm is cranking at 6am telling you to get up, and when you do you feel as if you never stopped working, it only feels like you just took a little break from that 20 yard mulch job LOL I am sure you guys know what I mean.

I like to get 6 to 7 hrs. I work overnights at a part time job so on those days I will go home eat some breakfast and continue the day mowing. I have gone as much as 36 hours with out sleeping doing this. And right now I get about 3-4 hours sleep a day because I watch my son during the day and sleep a few hours before I go to work at night.

It pays to have grown up on a farm, working from 4:30 AM till 10pm somedays and then doing it all over again the next day. Boy, I miss farming!

I try to get at least 6 hrs before a full day of mowing. It's not always possible as a full time firefighter when we get calls overnight. In the winter, I definitely get at least 8 (I don't plow). Winter is my vacation time.

I used to need 7, but found my marriage needed me to need only 5. Make the time for what's important. Russ
