Well i think that i saw the one to top all of you. OK i was getting ready to go to the store, and i heard something coming down the road, so as i looked to see what it was, i saw a 10 speed bike, with a 2.5 gal gas can tied with rope on the handle bars, and being puled behind it was a 3.5 hp Murry push mower, the guy on the bike had it tied about 3 ft behind him and "they were booking it" :dizzy: Now i do not feel so bad any more. All i could think of was the poor little wheels on the push mower moving down the road at speeds in excess of 15 mph ;) Now that is one way to save on the over head, turn your mower into a trailer and power the rig with peddle power ;) Well now i m big time. :cool2: OK now you all have your work cut out for you. TOP IT!!!!!!!!

Tuesday morning I saw a man pushing a old push mower with a rake balanced on the handle bars and a one gallon gas can sitting on top of the push mower. Had a pair of shears stuck threw his belt. He would probably like to have had a bike to pull his equipment! Thiis was in an upscale neighborhood too.

This is one of the reasons I always keep a camera handy. Weather it be my digital or a cheap disposable. That was definitly a kodak moment.

I have respect for anyone willing to make a buck. I don't have respect for anyone living off the government tit or living off a woman. Honest work is ok in my book. All the threads about lowballers and scrubs are rediculous. Everyone starts at the bottom and as far as I know, I haven't seen anyone publish specific prices to compare.

I agree with you 100% about the above, but this is still funny, scrub, pro, it doesn't matter he was still going to a hard days work never the less, but it doesn't take the funny out of it, i wasn't knocking him, just telling you what i see. I am new to the business, and what you all would think of as a scrub, with my jeep an old trailer, i know that the loco are laughing at me, but that is all right, cause i am just trying out the water right now, too see if i will be able to handle it all year. and if i like it then maby next year i will try again going pro. but for now my jeep will do, just like his 10 speed will work for him. :cool2:

True story. In my neighborhood there is 2 kids 15 or 16 years old. They started a business ;) Have you guys seen those gas powered scooters? Imagine it pulling a 21" mower with a garbage can between the haldles and the engine of the mower. Inside the can was extra gas and a weed eater. The other kid would ride his bike with another mower bungie corder to it...when he got tired of pedeling, he would grab onto the first mower! Seeing this "train" going down road was.....priceless!!! payup :waving:

One guy working three leaning aganst the truck drinking colt 45. Kicker was this is in front of a 750,000 dollar house. As they leave they argue who has to sit in the back

Those are some funny stories, luckily it isnt that bad here yet!

Best I saw was a guy in the fall with a really old vac on a small trailer blowing the leaves into the back of his van, now that was some funny stuff, piece of plywood blocking the driver seat and your set :D

no kidding, I could read these all day......but my buddy and I used to pull a big trailer, with a cub lawn tractor around with a 4 wheeler, of course we doubled on the 4 wheeler pulling the mower and trailer that weighed more than us. Sometimes we would go for like 10 miles or so too.

I wish I would run across one of these people. I think I would honk the horn and give them the big "Kramer" thumbs up like when he was on the back of that ladder truck going down the street.

Maybe the guy was an environmentalist -- but then he would be using a reel mower and a scissors.....

How about an old Schwinn 3 wheeler like grandma rode with a gang of 3 reel mowers behind it mowing. I stopped and watched for 15 minutes in disbelief 3 years ago. He was mowing a million dolllar house on the ocean. He then used a battery powered Black & Decker trimmers (cira 1970) to trim with. When he left I knocked on the door and asked the owner what they had just paid for the 1/3 acre lot to be cut. $5 bucks cut twice a week.

If that guy had an extra brain cell or two, he'd just crank it up and pull the mower around the yard still attatched to his bike! ha ha ha thanks for the humor!

Not that this one relates to our industry, but I saw a smaller pickup truck with 3 ladders in the back and to keep them from falling out, they were all duct taped to the sides of the truck. I should have followed it and taken a pic, but more than likely they would have fallen out and hit me.

Last summer I saw 2 guys, a teen and a guy old enough to be his dad..... walking door to door. Kid had a Lawn Boy, older guy had a weed whip slung over his shoulder.

I just watched the news and they had a story about some people ripping off bank customers with BS about "they won the lottery, give me a couple grand and we can split the mil I won crap" this guy claimed he lost 4 grand, showed him mowing a few acres with his 21" Craftsman, he was a 1/4 way done and the news guy asked him what was he going to do with the money he lost? His answer, "I was going to by a rider machine"!!! :D

Well, I started out much less fortunate than the guy in the picture. I was a kid, the roads were gravel, no bike, no trailer, no trimmer, and only one gas can.
