Has anyone ever seen little cocoon like sacks hanging or growing off of a pine tree? if so, what is the solutions to getting them off. I was told that you can't spray the tree you have to pull them off. Is there another way?

Is it bag worms? In some cases with bagworms you will have to cut the limb. I'd try to pull them and eliminate the problem.

Well, I haven't seen them. They are on my sister's tree and her neighbor told her she can pull them off. I guess if she doesn't get them off they can kill her tree. Does this sound like bag worms?

Sure it is a pine tree? Sounds like bag worms but I have seen them more on leyland cyprus than pines. Either way yes you can, and should imediately pull them off.

I've read that you should pull them off with gloves, wrap them into a plastic grocery bag (or the like), then throw it out with your regular trash. You can then use a insecticide, like Orthenex or Sevin brand products.

My parents have 130 arborvitae trees. They ALL got bag worms last year. They are a pain. We picked and sprayed every tree. Get them off quick!

Its definitely a bagworm cacoon. I think its too early for them to be out this year yet. Maybe its an old one from last year. We take care of a property that has 187 arbs and we spray with sevin.
I believe they are sawflies.Summer oil should work
