a few of the lawns i do, the blades of grass looks like wheat. i hope this is a good explanation but thats what it looks like. anyone know what this is? and how to get rid of it?

Sounds like RYE grass to me. Do you have a pic. of it?

If it was a newly seeded yard and they used straw to cover the seed then it probably is wheat and it will go away on its own.

this time of year, some turfgrass varieties will seed out. its primarily bluegrass species although ive seen others do it as well. it will pass as its just a seasonal thing...no worries.

If you let most grass species get too tall they will go to seed. It is what it is supposed to do. Just cut the grass!

This time of the year blue grass varieties go through a stage called anthesis. It is the time of year when the grass is growing at it's fastest point so it looks hairy, stressed and discolored. Keep your blades sharp , fertilize with slow release fert. and water. After that it's just a waiting thing until the lawn goes through this stage. Normally ablut 2-3 mowings.
