Today was the first day to cut grass. Mowers have been busy mulching leaves all winter but today they finally saw some real grass to cut.

Looks good Ssouth, I wish that was me out cutting and you were looking at the snow melting. We only have snow in shady areas and where it was piled up from plowing. Nice stripes. ;)
OK now it is official, I'm jealous. Can't wait to get this season under way. Stripes are lookin good.

RDH, This yard was cut with an eXmare Lazer EPS 60". I only had single blades on, with double blades the stripes seem to stand out better. This is only a small portion of the lawn but I didn't want to fill up too much space with pics.
I think I can smell that fresh cut grass!

Looking good.
It was decently warm here today, but now it's raining, and the news said it is supposed to change over to snow. Not what I wanted to hear. Spring can't get here soon enough.

mowing...never until april last week or first of may.
Send some of that green my way!! Probably wont even think about getting out the mower until the end of march:(
We don't have any snow but we don't have any rain either. The grass is trying to come back. We also have water restictions. I'm cutting a little now and then. You can bet though, once it starts raining it won't stop which creates different problems. It's sure been warm lately though. If we would just get some RAIN.

I started cutting grass two weeks ago. Its starting to need it every week.
That's a great looking lawn Ssouth. What kind of turf are y'all using down there? You do the bushes too?

What type of grass was that. I would guess Bermuda or Centipede. Here in Indiana Bermuda is a weed and is hard to get out of a turf site unless you spot spray it with Round up?? How nice is bermuda lawns down there. I have wondered if they are as nice as our Kentucky BG, or our Bentgrass, golf course green, fairways, and tees. At what height do you guys cut all your Bermuda grass home lawns at???
We have tons of Bermuda around here and some people love it. I dont care for it too much because we can have a real cold winter now and then and it browns out. Probably the best aspects of Burmuda are it's heat and drought tolerance and its traffic durability. You can cut it to 1" and it wont even phase it. Try doing that with tall fescue! Also, it is extremely invasive and will send out runners 12" per week in the summer. Once you have it though you're pretty much stuck with it because the rhyzones (sp?) go down about a foot and only a complete renovation will get rid of it (if then).
I have one customer with bermuda and he loves it. I cut it at the same height as all my other customers, 3 1/4". This customer loves it because he says it has a blue-green tint in the morning when the dew is on it.

LuckyLawnboy, The grass in the pic is actually fescue. We do have lots of Bermuda down here but I prefer to cut fescue because it looks much better.
