I was wondering what you guys use to communicate between trucks and home? I checked into the two way radios it is 400.00 for the license. And about 400.00 for a radio. In my case i would want three of them one for each truck and one for the wife at home. Oh yeah and 8.00 a month for using there tower. I just thought in the long run it might be cheaper! What do you guy's use and whats your thoughts on this?
Go with Nextel, cell phone with 2-way use also. Nextel charges a flat rate per month. Check with your local dealer!!!!

I used Maxon two-way radios for about 5 year they were
great. Had 4 of them with extra chargers and battiers,
leather hoister, monthly fee was $12 per radio.
total equipment value $3200.00
AND THEN
the company that owned the tower sold the airwaves
to NEXEL. I recieved a letter from them telling me
that my radio would be shut off as of 04-01-00.
and there was not a darn thing I could do about it.
they did offer me $100.00 per radio (I sold them on e-bay)
So I went to cell phones, I liked the two-ways
alot better than the cell phones. Price is about
the same only have two cell phones now.

We use cell phones and text pagers. I'm thinking of switching to nextels, because my personal phone bill is betwwen 350 to 400 a month and my guys are alot less, i think the two way radio feature from nextel might be the way to go.

We are using Nextel Cell phones and they have like others have mentioned a private line feature and a 2 way radio feature. We have had them for a year and are very happy with them.

I have Cingular wireless used to be Cell one, and all my friends plus my helper all get mobile to mobile unlimited usage any time for only an additional $10 a mounth each phone and this works great. My helper has his own cell phone, so I pay for his service of the feature, only $120 a year You have to call other Cingular wire less phones. but they don't have to have it just you, so if you both have it then it just like a couple of Walkie talkies.
