Slim I told you as soon as I figured out how to post pictures I could send you a picture of my sweeper to give you a laugh. Don't laugh to much though, the trucks in great shape for a 64 and it pulls it's own in producing income.

Actually, I'll bet that beast does a pretty good job. I'd have to make several passes with my Broomer to accomplish what that does in one. Although, it looks like you have the same problem as I do... getting the pile off the ground and into a dumpster.

When I drove semi over the road I always thought that the B-61 mack had as much class as anything. This truck puts me in mind of that.

Here is an idea:

Buy the truck, Buy a skid steer.

Use the skid steer to load the stuff into the truck.

Use the truck and skid steer in the winter.

Is that a Mack or an R model International?

SlimJim Z71

I'm thinkin it would be cheaper to just buy a vacuum sweeper.

It would probably be cheaper to hire a bunch of kids. LOL
Is it true that a U-Model Mack...the "U" stood for ugly?

It's a R-190 International. It was a parade truck for a big asphalt company in the area. They went through the whole truck back in the late 70's. Right down to sandblasting the frame, rebuilt the engine (450 inline 6), and chromed a bunch of things. In the 80's it belonged to a sealcoat company. It was used for patching and that was when they mounted the broom on it. You would not believe the dirt that broom will move. It will take 4 inches of caked on mud and shoot it thirty feet. It also works pretty good with snow. I'm going to have to post some more pictures of my equipment so you guys don't think I only have equipment older then myself.

Yardworks,
Are you really selling it cause I would like to buy it?

Sorry Mike. I was just kidding around with SlimJim because of the $60,000 sweepers he is looking at. It has sentimental value to me and is kind of my toy. I am planning on restoring it and putting it inside my corporate offices some day as a display. Although my motto is everything is for sale for the right price. Throw a dollor figure out there and I'll think about it.

SlimJim Z71,
Just a thought, buy a Bobcat, and a sweeper attachment.

Good for small parking lots, stripmalls, banks etc.!

Yardworks,
Thats what I wanted to do with it.

There is a guy next town over who has a International tractor with a lowboy trailer my guess would be around a 1959.Would love to restore it.He won't part with it!!

Slim,
Use to rent one to clean my parking lots for sealcoating.Works pretty good.

thanks

Mike
Does anyone make a powered broom that just mounts right where your A-frame for the snowplow goes and is then powered by a small gas motor?
Seems like this would make your plow pick-up more versatile in the summer months.

We always had a Tennant sweeper for cleaning parking lots before sealcoating. The thing saved us a lot of work. It had a vacuum system and the hopper would raise to dump into a dumpster or truck. It is something you would have to trailer from jobsite to jobsite.

Listen,

:eek:For twelve years I walked back and forth with a blower cleaning parking lots getting ready to seal them.

I thought of just about every kind of cleaning device I could.
Tractor with sweeper on front blower on back.
Ride on blower etc..

Just can't get too far away from manual cleaning!!!

Although we now have a sweeper truck to help out.

Mike,

You used to rent a Bobcat with a sweeper or a sweeper truck?

Anyway, I've toned down my search a little to include a used sweeper. Here's the one I'm looking at:

http://www.schwarze.com/usedpics/007003.jpg

It's a 1992 Isuzu Cab-Over with a diesel aux. engine., and a curb broom. It's at the Schwarze plant, and it's listed for $20,000. Although, I think I can get it for less than that...

Slim,

Looks pretty good shape for a 92.how many miles,hours,etc...

Who is your saleman? Are you going to fly down? What type of financing are you doing?

To tell the truth I could have bought used,I am only putting 40 miles a night on it.Go through tires like every 5000 miles.brushes every two months.

You can private email if you want.

Good Luck

Mike,

The chassis has 122,989 miles on it (which I guess isn't too bad). I've been working with Dan Akins at Schwarze. I just sent them another e-mail asking for more details on this particular unit, as well as any others they might have gotten in lately.

I'm not sure yet as to what type of financing I'm going to do yet. I've contacted a leasing company, but I'm still waiting to hear from them. I'll probably drive down to get it, or if I can afford it, I'll have it delivered. I just hope this all goes fairly quickly, so I don't miss my window of opportunity to obtain new contracts before spring.

Just a fair warning on leasing

Stay away from RSR Capitol.I found that most leasing companies are going to rape you.

Hey Mike I sealcoated for 11 years doing the same thing with blowers. I remember real dirty lots with 3 or 4 blowers going. You could go about 10 feet until you'd have to stop and sweep up the windrow of dirt and haul it off in pails. It brings back bad memories. We had a sweeper for only the last 4 years I worked doing that. Even with a good sweeper there was still a lot of scrubbing to do with brooms and wire brushes. I have done my share of tough work and I would have to say sealcoating has got to be up in the top 5. My hats off to you Mike after 11 years I switched to lawncare.

Yardworks,

It is a dirty business especially when it is about 95 out.

My other company we do full property maintenance sweeping, sealing, striping, mowing, and plowing.

And if that isn't enough I drive my dump trailer full time during the summer.

Best part is that we are having fun.:D

Mike,

That's pretty much the line of work (except sealcoating) I'm looking to get into. You and I are gonna have to talk in Denver...

Tim, Mike

You should see this big old red beast of a 1980 C-70 I just got. Dino always talks about the "bowtie", well this one has a 427 bowtie. Gotta love them big blocks.
