Best way to thicken patchy, thin grass around yard? Clover problem, too.

I have a large (40 X 150) ft poertion of my lawn with seemingly ample light that is thin. I have clover in this area as well.

What is the best way to get a denser lawn in this area? The lawn is thin in areas, thick in others, patchy and just not pretty....

I have a Chemlawn subscription but am convinced it is doing little to help this..

What can I do?

Before you do anything just move your mower height up to over 3 inches. This helps most lawns. Then get a soil test. Clover is a sign of compaction and nutrient problems. ChemLawn is not something I would ever use personally.

I agree. The first step is to discover why it is patchy. Defeciency?, Compaction?, obstructions in soil?. Get a soil test, start correcting, mow at at least 3", if you have Chemlawn and you still have clover problems, tell them to add some broadleaf weed control to the water that they are squirting on your turf, or better yet, fire them.
