Is that an old windshield wiper motor that you used there?

Looks like a good idea as long as it is strong enough for the use you give it.

I'm too embarrassed to admit the cost. Let's just say the machine shop I'd used for numerous projects took advantage of me and I haven't been back since. Learning to weld, that's a winter project for me. The motor itself is about $60-65 bucks new. You could get one at a junkyard if you're willing to fight the snakes for it! Also, too much time was spent on that dumb piano type hinge when the original loops could have been used and would have made the unit portable. Find a friend who can weld and you'll do ok.

What kind of motor are you using and how does it hold up for you. I have a very similiar set up using a GMC window motor. The problem is I go through 2 or 3 a season.
