I am going to be starting up a lawn maintenance business next year, and was wondering how Echo products were, quality wise? Also, how many cfm's should i be looking at for a gas leaf blower? Thanks

I used echo blowers and weed eaters years ago when I was on a mowing crew. They are good quality and we never had a problem with any of them.

Echo stuff is great. I have two blowers and two trimmers. Buy the big back pack blower I think that its the PB-6000. Its much more powerful than the smaller one. Good stuff, I've never had any problems and the price is right too.

the echos are not bad if you are just starting out, or if you are established and you want something cheap to throw away every couple weeks or so. also with the echos the mower shop that i work for is telling me that their price is going up a nice little bit for some reason or another. personally i would say that for a trimmer i would either go with a redmax or a shindiawa. i have used redmaxes and they are great, just big bucks, will last though. just picked up a shindiawa a couple years ago and am very happy with it, plenty of power and is holding up well, as for the backpack blower, get something that is high cfm's and low wieght. i have found that the stihl pb400's work nicely, also you may want to try the new shindiawa blowers. people are telling me that they have more power and are just as light. more money though...

i used echo for about 10yrs ,and went thru their stuff like water, finally i tried redmax and they are way better built from the carburater.

redmax- only thing bad about them is when they get stolen... around here unless you are gonna report it to your insurance company you are out 500 bucks for one trimmer. but very good machines. shindiawa i have found though can hold up against a redmax quite well.

Geez for a two week machine I guess my echo is priceless. Going on its fourth season. Starts first pull. The only maintenance I have done to it is pulled out the arrestor screen at the end of last season. I keep thinking I ought to get a redmax or other but the stihl I had died one season in and the echo still runs like new. This must be like those "High maintenance Walkers." :)

One thing about echo. Change the head. Loading the trimmer line is a pain and you go through it like crazy. I put a stihl head on mine 3 1/2 years ago and it totally changed my opinion about the machine. The string was such a hassle I was seriously considering dumping the whole thing!

The commercial line are real nice units, we use Echo products and are very happy, currently we run 4-2601 trimmers, 3-PB60HT blowers, 2-2100 blower-vacs, 1-HC1500 hedge trimmer, 1-2400 power source with extra reach clippers & pruning attachments. As far as there broom we like the rubber paddle Shindawa makes much more. If you are starting out Echo is a great start and if your like us 5 or 10 years down the road you will still be using the!!!!

I have been using echo equipment for the past 10yrs, I think that one post about throwing them away every two weeks was very very misleading. I still use the first echo trimmer i purchased. And love the 2601s, Last season i purchased a BP601 backpack blower, 58.5cc 535cfm at the pipe. This yr they got the new 650 with over 600cfms at the pipe well over 200mph. And by the way i paid over 400 for the 601 and 400 for two of my trimmers thats not cheap in my book. Echo makes fine products. Marks Mowing Service

Echo is my choice. I once helped a man before starting out myself and he was old and so was his two echo weedeaters I think he use to say they where over ten years old and he cut grave yards with lots of head stones also. I just have an hand held echo blower but have had no problems out of it.

i am not trying to say that echo is a bad product. i mean i have 1 srm2100, and 1 pb400e. but the echo back pack gets heavy real quick if you are using it all day, and there are lighter ones with more power. the trimmer: the reason i dont use it that much anymore is because 2 years ago i was pull starting a friend's srm2100 and ripped a fingernail off. i wanted to make sure that that didnt happen again. the echo is still running, only with a small poly brush blade. i now use a shindiawa for my trim work, it has plenty of power and holds up well. a friend of mine though. he doesn something like 60 or 70 lawns a week. he was first into redmax, those were being stolen or lost, he then went to shindiawas, he still uses those today. he got one echo one time after i recomended them, he killed it after 2 weeks. wasnt happy, had no power, too chinsy, but they beat the crap out of everything, then again so do i. i just feel that if you are gonna be using these things on a daily basis in heavy conditions you are better off goin with something a little better. by the way, i paid 289 for my shindiawa T230 and 217 for my srm2100. the pb400E is 480 new, the pb400 from stihl is 400 new. just my opinio

I use stihl, echo and tanaka, with a few redmax in the arsenal. I perfer the Tanakas for weedwackers and blowers.stihl and redmax make a good hedgetrimmer. give the Tanaka a try, they are more then the echos but last alot longer.

Ive used ryobi for yrs.Stihl 50-1 and high
octane.I really couldnt ask for more.
Simple, cuts strong ,and last for ever.
Of course they all last forever with stihl 50-1
and high octane.Did I mention Sti oh guess so.
THAATS THE REAL SECRET . 1-2 pulls every time
no mater what make. Well almost any make.
There are a few toys out there.

My dealer sells Echo and Shindawia equipment. I started with echo 2 yrs. ago. They seem fine so far. He really doesn't reccomend one over the other, he just says "you've been happy with echo, you might as well stick with it".

I have used echo for years. I actually have a saw and trimmer that have to be 8 yrs old. Done nothing but change a plug for the most part. You cannot beat Echo!

I've had a Echo SRM-2501 since 1992 and have only cleaned the exhaust port and changed the spark plug every spring. Thats it! Also have a 1994 LESCO LBB-4200 made by Echo. Only thing I have done is to update the air filter and just now replace the flex blower tube. This blower will not die! Its fallen off my truck (don't ask) and slid across the street, not once, but twice! Few scratches and keeps on ticking! I also have a 199? whatever year they came out, split shaft multi-tool that I use as a dedicated stick edger. Runs great!

There are many good manufacturers of 2cycle equipment out there, for me, I'm sticking with ECHO!

I agree, Echo products are indestructable. I have a 7 year old echo trimmer and a 6 year old echo hand held blower. They never once have failed to start on 2 pulls....echo trimmers are very durable but..... try a redmax.... I thought my echo trimmer once the best thing since sliced bread untill I got my hands on a redmax! I had to have one.... my redmax is now 5 years old and still ticking! The diffrence is in power is unbeleavable... the redmax puts the echo to shame! This spring i will be adding another redmax trimmer to my arsenal! I still keep my echo as a spair but have yet to use it in years!

I've been using Echo stuff since 1989. I still have a 2501 trimmer bought in 92 that runs like a top, don't know if it'll ever quit. One thing I do hear from other operators is that the cheaper models don't really stand up for very long. Any time I buy 2 stroke equipment I check to see if the cyl is held onto the block with 2 or 4 bolts. If it's got 4 you know it's heavy duty, 2 could be a little like a homeowner model. Just my 2 cents

Evan, I thought Echo was good too, until I tryed Shindaiwa. I do not plan to go back to an Echo. I do like their string though. That Crossfire string is the thing. ;)

we still have a trimmer from 87 homeowner use only until 5 years ago since then about a dozen accounts, will buy another one in the near future. and let the other go back to homeowner use/backup. knock on wood only one problem so far the spring on the throttle control broke a few years ago.
