We have a Toro 36" walkbehind with a 14 hp Kawasaki and an electric clutch. When the mower fully heats up, after about 10 minutes, the clutch disengages. I can let the mower cool down for a half hour and the clutch will work again. However, after 10 minutes it fails again. The clutch is two years old and the wiring seems O. K. Any ideas what might cause this?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the air gap on the clutch needs to be set, .012 to .014. If the clutch is not adjustable then you might want to make sure the engine is charging the battery. Hope this helps

If you have an Ohm meter someone on the site will tell you how to check the clutch coil.

The clutch needs to be adjusted or checked for adjustment every hundred or so hours. If you replace the clutch make sure it is broken in and adjusted before cutting grass.

There is a good possibility you can just replace the coil and save a few dollars.
