What is the going rate for you guys as far as mulching and spring cleanup goes. Do you bid by the hour or the job.

Flat rate of $35/yard plus delivery ($15-$35). Did the first mulch job of the year today. If customer wants over 10yds. I will waive the delivery charge.

Is that just for the mulch or to spread it to.

I think that was for labor only...it didn't look like he included mulch cost.

That price is to spread also. I make approx. $20/yd. and can put out 3yds/hr by myself. I now have a new employee and it took us 2 hrs. from delivery to final clean-up. Basically I made $100 for two hrs. I've seen on here were some charge up to $65/yd but my area will not pay that much. I also found out today that my dealer is going up $1/yd due to high cost of fuel. That increase will prompt me to increase my price from $35 to $36/yd.

the wholesale mulch in my area is 10 dollars per yard. i was thinking of charging 30 per yard for relatively easy spreads (wheel up and dump) i have one customer that has several terraced beds and some beds that are 150 feet or more from the nearest drop site. so that one is 35 per yard.

i spread mulch 1/2 the price of the cost of the mulch.

To determine my price I take the price of a cubic yard of mulch and multiply it by 3.

Example:

The job calls for 3 cubic yards of mulch at a cost to you of $20 per yard.

$20 x 3 = $60/yard. $60 x 3 cubic yards = $180

This includes pickup and delivery of the mulch, prep the beds, spread and clean up all the waste.

I hope this helps.

In glastonbury, CT. you charge mulch plus 1/2 to spread?
So you pay $24 per yard and you spread it for $12.

Is that what you mean? Mdb is that right?

$65 per yard. It cost me $9.50 per yard, but by the time you go get it, get to the site, spread it, cleanup, drive home, and clean truck it wouldn't be worth it for less.

I do plan to sub out the bigger jobs this year. The company that blows it has a 5 yard minimum @ $175.

Its just to much trouble to not at least $65 per yard. Especially if you have to wheel it thru gates.

I'd like to talk to some of these guys about
subbing for me. We get $60 per yard materials
and labor. around here a yd{full} is $20 for
the materials. I tried the cheaper priced yds
and they are for homeowners who have no idea
what they are buying.

We get around $50 a yard installed + delivery + prep. So when it's figured out it's about 5-70 per yard.

Where do you guys buy your large quantities for $10-12 a yard. I can get 65 yard trucks here for 16 a yard and thats the best that I've found.

I charged $65/yard (paid $22/yard for 3x hardwood) installed last year and I currently am reconsidering that price. I think it may go up to $70-75/yard installed. I know there are Co.'s in my area charging more, but I know what I need to make a profit.

Ssouth...that's pretty good 3 yards an hour, but how fast are you on prepping everything? Yeah, the mulch can seem to go down fast, but you must take into account the prep work time before mulching. I used to charge $45/yard and then a separate charge for prep work...lumping it all together makes more sense.
