View Full Version : Dead stuff in beds

Hey gang,

Got a client who was wondering why only 6 of his 75 tulips came up this year, as well as why everything (except his onions) in his vegetable garden is dead.

After a little discussion, he revealed that he had taken the sludge from the bottom of his koi pond and used it as fertilizer. He uses an algaecide in his koi pond.

I'm almost certain that's what killed his beds. Now we have to figure out how to fix it. I don't know which algaecide he used, but I suspect that it will break down eventually. Do we just wait until the stuff breaks down and replant? Is there any quick n easy way to tell when it's safe to replant? Do we have to remove soil and replace it?

I sent in soil samples (results not back yet) to see what augmentations are necessary, but in the meantime, what can we do?
