If you are looking to get an idea on cost, that is one thing. If you are thinking about buying from a dealer online for a purchase like a Lazer, you are going to have a tough time getting any service or warranty work fom you local dealer. I would say they may be a little resentful towards you. Just my opinion. Do a search on some of the threads for the guys opinions here on building a good relationship with your local dealer. The service of the lifeline of your business is crucial to getting the job done and making your customers happy! :)

One will only allow you to see prices on certain Lazers. Try this one. http://www.lgwhse.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_main.html?p_catid=50&sid=8sr1h50F@HYC0HE-17101520365.3d If you already saw it, sorry :)
The funny thing is that I can get about the same deal on a 60 inch lazer with the 25, but they have a price almost $500 less on the 26 fuel injected version vs. local. Either way it isn't worth the savings to me. On small equipment, yeah, but not on a mower.

If you are not in Texas you don't pay sales tax, BUT the cost to ship a (Lazer Z HP 52" 23 Kawa) to Virginia is $450.00. Sales tax in Virginia would cost $405.00 plus you have a dealer.
IMO, until these online retailers can do something about the
shipping charges (UPS set) than they are NOT any better a deal than you can find from a local dealer, and then you need to think about the benefits from a local dealer regarding repairs. Alami seemed better becasue they offered free shipping, but no Exmarks there.
Another reason the DOT COMS could not compete.

BryanB, only 20 minutes from your house is an Exmark dealer that has the same prices as L&G wharehouse. It is Kohler Equiptment in Upper Marlboro. Their number is 1-301-249-2200. You will have to pay sales tax but the extra $415 is well worth making sure that your mower gets worked on first if you have a problem.

I understand that more horsepower can be beneficial, but there are such cases as overkill. I would not think an 18 would be too much for a 48 either. Just for the record we did upgrade our 36s to 15 when we upgraded to exmark.

Well it is my theory that the more the horsepower the better, granted 18hp is alot for a 36". It will have no problem chopping thru thick wet grass with double blades and a mulch plug on it, though you may have to invest in a couple of deck belts.

I hear ya MS but I too would be concerned about the decks and lift-off LOL. Thats a good point about needing extra belts though. With that much a-*-s, you would probably shred them before you stretched em.

One of the best I ever owned was a 36 kees
w 5hp kaw. You could cut hay with it.
Jason id be interested in that 18hp 36
you are putting to gather. If that was done right
it should cut your grandkids lawns.

The Northern VA dealers will be so low compared to what you
are looking at why even look. My cost on a lazer hp was allmost $1,000.00 less then where I live.
Shop around the West DC Suburbs by phone and you will be surprised. You can get a dealer list off there webb site

Awm, Kutnkru,
I posted about the Bobcat project last year sometime. I picked up a basket case 36" Bobcat with a blown motor and no front casters or wheels for 50 bucks. Then in late summer I found a Briggs 18 hp on Ebay for around 300 bucks, can't remember exactly what I paid for the engine.
I started putting it together last fall, but got too busy to finish it before winter. No shop to work on it inside, so I'm waiting till the snow dissapears to resume work on it.
About all I have left to do is put some front casters and wheels on, find choke and throttle cables for it, and a decent location for the battery. For the battery box, I am using a ammo box with two grommeted holes in the lid for the battery cables to come through.
It runs like a top for a used engine. But man was it a tight squeeze to fit that big twin in. Had to modify the deck slightly to get everything lined up.
Should finish project tree cutter bobcat this spring. All in all I should have less than 500 bucks into a 18 horse 36.
