Bidding on 57 ac. devided into 18 sites to be mowed 28 time a year. All mows are with in a 5 mile range.
No trimming or grass blowing. Must be done on weekday no weekends.
Question is how much would you bid for this.

In my area $30 - $35 an acre is average. I would love to land a job like that. If it were presented to me, I would bid $24-$28 just to get it. About 18 years ago I maintained the New Orleans Saints practice feilds in Hammond, La. they were approx. that size and I did them for around $19 per acre and I was rolling in the $$$$ (so I thought) I ended up getting a lot of other jobs due to the exposure.
Good luck!!!

I would think that $28 an acre would be more than fair considering the vast number of acres in question.
Good Luck.

Get Stone to answer this for you. He's got a lot of school athletic fields that he maintains.

Just remember that you may have to do some cleanup when you are mowing. I know at the school that I go to, there is a ton of junk and stuff around the bleachers in the areas to mow. It will take time to pick this up, or you could just mow over it and then they would be mad at you for the litter.
You will also get humiliated by the student. Figure that into your prices. When the prisoner's mow at the school I go to, everyone laughs at them.

They laugh because they can get out on the street and sell their dope and make more in an hour than he will mowing it all! Hope they can laugh when they are the prisoners doing the mowing. HA HA

Keep in mind they are predicting $2.00+ per gal. of fuel again in the DC/Metro area for this summer. Try to adjust your prices accordingly...
Just a thought, Mark

I agree Art...
Looks like your bid was perfectly in the ball park.
The $12-15.50 per acre I don't get.
If I was asking your question it would not just be why, it would be how???
