Incase you guys didnt know this is the "competition" Chrysler will be bringing to the US for the Hummer. It weighs in at a hefty 12500 pounds and goes for about 85k. Its a bad mofo. You can put just about any body or attachment you want. Its called the unimog =).

I used to drive Mercedes Unimogs in the Army. The U1700
series. They have 8 foward and 8 reverse gears, air operaated
4wd and diff lock engagement.4 wheel disc brakes (air over
hydraulic) and coil springs. Motor is 5.8 litre 6 cyl.
turbo diesel. Their off road performance is mind blowing.
Originally designed from the Mercedes MB Trac range of tractors.

down here in SC the higher the truck is off of the ground, the better looking it is. In SC terms,"that truck is ugly".
LOL.
I had to say that

That truck looks sharp, just because it dosen`t have a 30" suspention lift and 75" gumbo mudders on it dosent mean it`s ugly.

Those Unimogs have been arond for a long time. As soon as I fix my desktop pc I'll post some great pics of one with a front loader and a backhoe. It must be 20 yrs old.

First time I've seen the Unimog with a non camo paint. The Army has had these for a long time, and the Navy has a few at Dam Neck. I think they belong to the SEALS. If you're going all out with a military truck, get a HEMTT.
Pretty neat, but for 85k, I'll pass. It would be nice to sit that high up and check out all the skirts. :D

The unimogs have been around for a while, the mercedes dealer where I used to live had one that they plowed their lot with. The new ones are just designed to appeal to the high end owners now..
That Chevy will be in production soon, i believe in 2002. They haven't decided on the price but they said it should be in the 60-70 thousand range. the Bed on that was is 8ftX10ft. although it comes as a cab and chassis only the bed is extra bucks.
