View Full Version : Irrigation systems and Aerating

I have a couple of questions for you business owners. About how much can I expect to pay for an irrigation system? My lawn is roughly 1500-2000 square feet. Is $3K or less out of the question? Also, is aerating a problem when you have a sprinkler system? I would worry about some of the heads getting damaged.

Thanks in advance for you input.

Aerating is definitely a problem with sprinklers. Either flag them, or if you're aerating yourself, steer clear...

Aerating is no problem at all with a properly installed irrigation system. Simply flag all the heads and steer clear of them.

What about a ball park price on what an irrigation system would cost for a 1500-2000 square foot lawn?

You'd be better off posting in the irrigation forum here.

However, its hard to ballpark a price without seeing the job, theres so many variables.

Where the take off is located, what shape the yard is, what sort of soil, is there already an established yard, are you willing to pay for quality parts etc...

Aeration is not a problem. Flag the heads.

I provide flags for my clients that have a sprinkler system. Then they mark them each time befor my service.

How many zones would your 1.5-2K system be? I'm guessing 3? Possibly even 2 zones with 5-6 heads per. Would you need any zones to cover flower beds or shrubs?

$3K should be the HIGH end. I'd imagine you could find someone to put in that small of a system for $2000...maybe even slightly better. Should take no longer than a day to day and half and materials no more than $500-$600.

I got my sprinkler system 2 weeks ago. It was 4 zones and $2400. Could have been 5 zones and $2750, but I decided I didn't need a zone in my shady area.
