I am renting the space,it has a little over 2400 sq. feet.It is in a cluster of shops and there are a few other landscapers in there so as far as outside space goes I keep everything I own inside. Some of the other guys have snowplows and old trucks outside but it kind of makes the place look pretty bad.Nobody really cuts the grass there either so yesterday I went ahead and cut it,I worked out a little deal with the landlord.
As far as the fridge yea that was one thing I knew I needed right away.I bought it used off the mechanic in the shop next to me for $50.

I guarantee that you've never had a beer in your life and probably never even kissed a girl in your life (Playboy posters in a place of business...PLEASE KID). This shop goes for $800 a month, but I got the guy to give me a little deal in exchange for doing a little work on the property. There is a little strip of grass that I cut and some tall grass and weeds that grow along the fence that we cut down and pick up the trash...bottles,cans,paper and little stuff like that so it really helped me out a lot and save me some money. We do pay all the utilities separate gas, water and electric and I have to pay $100 for snowplowing, now that will be something different me paying for plowing. :dizzy:

Insecure about my business KID? Not hardly. Hell I probably spend more on gas in a month than you daddy makes.
I got no problem with you KIDDIES cutting grass at all. Mine and many others on here only problem is when yu call yourself a "business" or an LCO. Hell, you aren't either....you are children cutting the neighbors grass....big difference KID!

Come On KIDDIE!! Surely if you are goin' try and cut on big boys you can do better than that! Below is that post so no one has to look it up. It was from when I first joined LS and simply said that I cut my first yard at 11 (which I;m sure everybody on here has done) for $5.00. Well kid that was in 1969 (you know when man landed on the moon in your history book?) and in 1969 $5.00 was a lot of money. Easy equal to $25-$30 in todays world. Then and most important WHERE does it say anything about me doing it as a "business" as you kiddes say. Hell, it doesn't say anything other than I cut my first lawn for money at 11. NOW, and more importantly because as I said earlier I have no issue with you kiddes cutting grass, as I said we all did. BUT you are NOT a Professional, you are NOT a business and you are NOT an LCO....just as I never said I was at 11 and again look at my profile it has NEVER inlcuded any cutting as a kiddie, cause I knew all I did was cut a neighbors yard for $5 in 1969 nothing more. Thus my being 47 years old with 26 year in BUSINESS....now if I went by what you KIDDIES think....lets see 11 years old in 1969... SHOOT that means I have 36 years....whoa!!! :dizzy:
I know you started this rant with me but sorry now I'm done with you cause I really shouldn't be conversing with children and you should be cutting your parents lawn and doing the bookkeeping for your "business" ;)
Hi Guys
I am new to this site but been cutting for a LOOOONNNGGG time. Cut first yard for money at 11 for $5 whole dollars in 1969.

Is this still the thread about Larry's new shop? :dizzy:
If so, Larry, did the owner tell you what kind of cost is involved with heating the shop in the winter? I can tell you from experience having a heated shop is a "god send". My only problem is the previous owners never installed a floor drain so when the snow melts off my truck & plow the state of Minnesota adds one more lake to our list. I have to squeegee (spelling?) the floor 4-5 times in the span of a couple hours. I hope you have a floor drain, that'll make it nice and simple.
Good luck in Vegas, don't drink too many floo floo drinks... :D

I'm not sure if this is still the thread about my new shop at least the title says it is.We went from talking about shops and plows to food and bbq grills to somebody out of nowhere attacking other members.
I'm not sure what the costs will be to heat the shop this winter...but you can believe this when i'm not there the heat will be turned down. With the three trucks I put out for plowing i'm not sure if I will even park them in the shop or not...they will probably stay at my house since all of the work is in the area of where I live.As far as the drain goes it does have one or what looks like a drain in the floor its not real big but it should work.I do plan on going down there and washing the trucks,at least my good one.
larry,
that is an awesome shop. i didn't read this thread so this may have been answered..do they include the utilities in that cost? i looked at a place, that was smaller then your "extra" storage area... was about $550. good deal there ya got. i would fill it with junk so fast though :)

No utilities...I have to pay the gas, electric & water. The water is a flat fee of $90 every 3 months, and all of the tenants down there chip in for the snow plowing in the winter.Plowing is based on the size of your shop so I have to pay $100 for the season.
If you need a little storage bring your stuff down I got room for you...it can go right next to all of Up North's extra stuff. :)

Yea I told them we do plowing in the winter and they told me all the tenants have to pay for plowing. So it will be kind of weird me paying for snow plowing. They also told me every couple of years they take new bids and I would be the first guy they ask but I don't want it,to many junk cars and stuff to plow around. There's a couple of other landscapers in there and another guy that plows so one of them can have the headache instead.
Yea there's plenty of room for the cot if need be :) .In fact just back the whole trailer in it will fit.Did you ever get it lettered? If so i'm not sure if I saw it.

sometimes its more of a headache then its worth. i've passed on oppurtunites also.
no, never got it lettered yet. i know when i do it, i'm going to change my mind shortly after.. so i procrastinate.
i did put some lettering on the back door though. i had some unused lettering left from my dump truck. nothing fancy, just some silver lettering with blue background. and my wife bought me a Snoopy decal, wearing a tool belt, and he's holding a large american flag. snoopy's the same color as the blue in the name. looks pretty cool i think.

Don't remind me please...We have had some good teams the last in the last 10 years just not championship teams.2 World Series teams 3 AFC Championship Games and some good basket ball in the Early to mid 90's.If it wasn't for a couple of great players that stopped us Michael Jordon & John Elway who knows we just might have won one.

I gotta agree Larry, BUT the way Cleveland's sports are played is like this. #1 loose a lot and get the #1 draft pick and waste it on, OH lets say Mike Junkin or Mike Phipps greater starters, Browns hall of famers, and lets not forget Joe charbenuo #1 pick of the Indians the only major league player that could open beer bottles with his teeth. We never won a championship but we did'nt need a bottle opener either :D Now that we have King James aboard with the Cavs he has no back up and will soon be departing where he will make another team a dynasty for a decade. If there good when there here they leave and become great. And if there great they just beat the hell out of us yr after yr. But ya gotta love 2nd place.
