I am fixing to have to rebuild a 22 hp kohler. Does anyone know how much horsepower will be gained if I bore it out .020 or .010?

It wont have anymore HP than when it was new.

Why wouldn't you see horsepower gains after you bore it out?

Boring the motor .010 should result in a nice power increase.

Assuming the power increase is proportional to the displacement increase your motor will have 22.14 HP after you're done.

on a new engine and a new engine bored .020 over you won't feel any noticable difference. But you will feel a difference from a worn out engine after a rebuild bored over or not. I find that most engines are running under the rated rpm's so make sure your at the factory high idle speed ussually at least 3600 rpm's
