squirting oil

I have a Murray garden tractor thats giving me some trouble. Last week I backed it off of my trailer, and pulled it into the garage. As I did this, it ran out of gas...that was fine. yesterday, I picked it up and transported it on my trailer. I filled the tank, and went to start it. It wouldn't start, and i noticed some dripping from the carburetor. I pulled the air filter off and notice Oil. Now, the tractor would only start with the filter off, and when it did start, the vent tube was blowing Oil up and out of it.

What would be the cause of this, and how can I fix it?

Check your oil level NOW! Check the oil for gas. If the carb float messed up and the gas flooded the crankcase you can not run the engine until the oil is changed and the carb float fixed. The reason I say this because it sounds just like one I had two days ago.

If Your going to trailer this unit around you NEED to install a in-line fuel shut-off valve and make SURE the fuel is off when on the trailer.
Bouncing down the road probably caused your problem.
And DO as fixer67 suggested !

That was my suspicion. Thanks for your help. I will hopefully be able to resolve this fairly easily now.
