I recently purchased a tachometer for my Kawasaki 6hp 4-cycle engine (FJ180V) for my WB mower. The set-up procedures asks if the spark plug fires:

a) twice per revolution

b) once per revolution

c) every other revolution

What is the case for this engine?

A 4-cycle has to be (C)

Unless you've got a really smart coil setup, it fires every time the magnet passes through the coil iron. In other words, every revolution.

It doesn't hurt the engine to fire on the exhaust stroke. In fact, it helps burn any remaining fuel.
