I'm considering buying a 2 or 3 year old 54" WB mower in the $1,000-$2,500 range.
It will used 1x wkly.
What should I be looking for?
What's a sure sign of abuse?
Thanks

I paid $1,295 for my Deere HD 75 with 54" 1998 model with 1300 hrs. I may not be a good shopper but I doubt you will find a machine only 3 yrs old for the money you are looking to spend.
Things I looked for while purchasing:
Starts
Good Tires
Not too much vibration from engine
Tracks straight
Good power going up hills
Leaks
Scalp wheels still able to be adjusted
Deck height is still adjustable (holes for pins not worn out)
Front caster tires in good shape
no large dents/holes in deck
Discharge opening in good shape (big deal if you want to bag)
Hope this helps you out.

Get a Scag or an eXmark.
