View Full Version : The Most Powerfull Backpack Blower

The most powerfull backpack blower isn't a Shindaiwa or Redmax. It's a Vandermolen 850BTx. Look on page 58 of Turf magazine. It has a 48.7hp Kawasaki engine! Thats something like 1hp for each cc of engine displacement!

I think I will stick with my Shindaiwa...I stick to manufactorers that have been around for awhile and have been field tested for many years. What is the cfm on that?

Alan, Please re-read the thread.

One hp per cc.You are pointing out a misprint
I hope.I dont get the magazine so couldnt look
for myself.Id like to see who would make that claim.

I read it the first time..What point are you trying to make?

are you sure its 48.7 hp, that doesn't seem right to me, but i could be wrong.

Lighten up, Bob was joking about the misprint showing 47 hp.

I figured that after reading the stats...some of us have not recieved TURF yet so some could not tell if he was joking or not. It is hard to understand when someone is joking by what they type (unless they type LOL or J/K). I have never heard of the machine as well as others so some may have been dismayed by what bob wrote.

I was noticing that too, sure would be neat to get that much HP out of a small engine like that. :D

The Shin 62cc has 3.9 HP, but the magazine writers make mistakes just like us posters do. ;)

So what is the best backpack blower to get? I'm in the market. What CFM should I shoot for and what air speed? Lastly how much $$ is it going to cost me?

That is basically a John Deere backpack (or vice versa), I think. I have one and it's great, JD that is. Light/strong.

Cooooolll :D 48.7 Hp! That oughta blow at like 2000mph. It'll probably move like 6...7,000 cubic feet of air a minute. And only 20 lbs. I am putting my blowers on Ebay right now. i gotta get one of these beasts :D On second thought, it might be a little hard to breath around the thing with the amount of air it could move :D

I think it has verticle thrusters too just in case the areas your blowing are to far to walk to. He,he,he.

you will love it i find that some times i can blow the street and the walk at the same time and you can blow grass out of get from like 10-15 feet away

Echo is releasing my next blower real soon...the PB-650. 630 cfm [pipe] and 205 mph! It has a 63.3 cc engine and is only 21 lbs with pipes. Looks like a real powerhouse. That will almost double my current Echo backpacks cfm's and beat the mph by 30!

lonestar, thanks for the stats, it sounds like a beast. but in a year or 2 in will be just average. did they include a price on the blower?
