I am the proud owner of a 1988 John Deere 318 that I mow with. Lately 1/2 way thru the yard it loses spark, dies, and I have to try and try to restart it. It may or 10 die again then be fine. No spark when dead...coil?? Checked over safety switches etc. they seem ok. Any help?? THANKS

If you have time visit www.weekendfreedommachines.org and ask on the restoration and repair forums.

The exact behavior I've seen a failing coil do, but I don't know anything about the 318 engine ignition. Still, a napa coil would be cheap and a coils a coil 90% of the time.
