Applications for Cool season grasses during hot summer

What are some of the techniques that work for all of you? I have seen a bunch of lawns that look spectacular even during 95 degree heat! I have seen lawns that are dollar spot infested, lawns that I HAVE BURNED BY APPLYING FERTILIZER 18-0-18 %50 slow release. Should you apply fert in the dead heat of summer? During July and august, or just wait till september? Thanks!

Having been in business for 23 years we have no problem putting down a 33-3-6 w/ 50% sulfur coated urea in july and august when temps are 95 to 100 degrees plus. We use a wilbur ellis product and have great success with lasting color also. we put one pound per 1000 sq. feet and get 7 plus weeks from it.
