I haven't used that exact model, but I've used (with good success) one that uses a mesh with slots cut in it, I think it was called a "spin Down" filter. It uses the same centrifugal concept. I'll have to look at the box when I get back to the shop.

Two different items, but with a similar concept. I would consider a spindown filter as a final stage of treatment, after using the centrifugal separator to remove as much material as possible. I'm just curious just how well the concept worked, and whether a centrifugal separator saved much time cleaning off strainer screens. I occasionally encounter wells that bring in enough material to make cleaning a spindown filter more work than a homeowner cares to do.

I've mentioned how lucky I am in other threads, and I'll repeat it here. Its nice to have clean wells :)

Sequim has a very extensive ditch irrigation system originally built in the turn of the century (I guess that doesn't work now that its the 2000's heh) and many people still use it to irrigate their properties.

So, we use a screen over the pump pickup line and a spindown filter, and they are fine.

I had one customer quite a few years ago w/ very sandy well water. The sand filter installed looked similar. Biggest problem with it was it would fill up. We installed a 205 on the cleanout/flush line and it seemed to work real well. The station for the 205 was programed to run at the end of every program.

As long as the centrifugal was kept flushed out, the spin down and y screen were only weekly maint. items
