I'm interested in opinions about the best way to get rid of moles in the lawn (or anywhere for that matter?

where i'm at traps are about the only way, for gophers we use poison. jim

First you have to identify if it is moles or voles. Moles eat earthworms and grubs and other soil dwelling insects. Voles eat plants and roots. Both make tunnels and leave ridges in beds and lawns. Castor oil will keep both away for a short time and there are some poisons that work for moles, but they get wise quickly. Harpoon traps are the best way to control moles and for voles a mouse trap baited with peanut butter under a pot over top of an active surface hole is the best way to control them. There is also a commercial poison feeding station that is nothing more that some pvc pipe, a tee and a cap that keeps the poison dry, but voles prefer fresh food, like roots and plants. Hostas are a favorite. If the deer don't eat the leaves, the voles will suck them into the earth.

There is a product that is from Bell Labs called Talpirid. It has all of the properties of a worm. They say that it tastes like a worm, it has the elasticity of a worm and has all of the ridges, any way, just like a worm
We have had very good results with this product. The only downfall is that it takes 2-4 trips to the property to complete the process.

If they are moles, we have always applied insect killer. The moles have no more food and move on.

Use Talprid, very reasonable in price easy to use. The insect trick is what TGL uses alot to sell grub control. Tell me this what do they feed on when grubs are not active ???

Earhtworms, which is their primary food source, not grubs.
