Narrowed it down to either JD757 or Toro Z500, both with 60" deck (Turboforce on Toro), 25HP Kawasaki on JD, 27HP Kohler on Toro.

If prices are comparable (there actually are quite close in my area), which would you get, or is it a coin flip and matter or what color you like better and if you are a Kawasaki of Kohler fan?

I have a 757 and totally love it

Thanks. I've only heard good comments about both the 757 and the Toro so it makes it tougher to figure out which way to go. Both seem like very good machines, prices are about the same, and local dealer support seems good here for both.

Toro is going to be cheaper than JD and will probably give you NO problems and the Turbo Force deck kicks some SERIOUS @$$

Both are between $7500 - 8000 here, within a couple hundred dollars of each other.

I tested the JD yesterday, and didn't care for it much. While it was a nice smooth maching, I didn't like the slow lade speed. People sy that it still cuts decent, vbut I could see exactly what I did. I carefully analyzed it in different heights and thicknesses of grass, and it was like a lazer cutting thottled down to about 80%. I don't care for the stamped deck, either. It sure won't take the beating like a fabricated.

it's neck and neck down the stetch. A few votes for JD and a few for the Toro so far.

I have Five (5) JD 757's and one (1) Toro 500......I think that tells in itself you what my vote is. As for the deck....don't even sweat it as the 7 Iron deck is outstanding..AND you'll never have to scape it like you will with welded decks.

I take it as "never" means very rarely???...
Unless you never encounter sticky sappy stuff such as crabgrass and clover.

As for the Toro 500, where do you find that it begins buildup leading to clogs?
There "new" deck and baffling shape is very similar to my Lesco Z-Two and in fact, it the adjustable part were set just right, it would be nearly identical.

I ask because my Lesco deck is just freaking amazing about staying clean, although I thought for sure it would be the worst I had ever owned due to other reasons aside from the baffling design. No turfgrass ever sticks to it, even in the extreme wet.

But then again, the difference might be in some minor demension or spec, or in the fact that my Lesco has a lot more blade overlap....

Just curious is all...

Have you guys ever tried a 25hp kohler 61" Simplicity Stallion? I believe theyre the same price, actually asking b/c my local dealer sells them, i have walk behinds now from them and have always liked their products. Ive yet to ride on their zero turn mowers though.

Those are pretty nice mowers. Simplicity owns Ferris. So, Basically they are just a Ferris with a few styling changes and half the warrany. (1yr v/s 2yrs)

I looked at the Simplicity Stallion while I was demoing the Ferris IS3000. Looked decent, but I settled in on either the JD 757 or the Toro Z500. Now just trying to figure out which of those 2 to buy.

My entire fleet is JD Z-Traks and the 757's get used more than the 797 does. The only fault in my opinion of the 757 is the 25 hp engine, a little extra juice would be nice for the 60" deck.

Toro, hands down. Just paying extra for the name with JD. You WILL love the turbo force deck

I have 2 757's. I love mine, no major problems to speak of. I have never scraped the deck, this is do to its design. Wet or dry grass, no build up. Dial height adjustment make sit easy to adjust height.

Same price here between the JD757 25HP Kawasaki 60" deck as the Toro Z500 27HP Kohler 60" Turboforce deck, if you shop around at least.

Why do you use the 757s over the 797s? I have one of each, and the main advantage, that I can see, for the 757 is the smaller frame for less scalping. With that said, with our yards we use the 757 for mulching the better lawns and SD with the 797 in thicker grass or bahia.

The boss just had this question yesterday, his reply, "Toro has the Z-stand and a better deck for various height grass, and more power options. The John Deere has better parts availability and more willing to go "outside" the warranty for repairs. Although JD is getting worse at this and Toro is getting better." Really a toss up. We sell Toro's here, cause JD didn't have their Z's up to speed when the boss was looking at which one to sell.

Until a couple of weeks ago I ran a Toro Z588E, 60'' turbo force deck, 28hp EFI....these decks are awesome!

mine never, not rarely, never clogged, even in juicy weedy rubbish.

to see some jobs done by this mower look at the gallery on my website, from very rough, long, to very manicured, this deck is most likely the best deck on the market.

The adjustable baffle is a sure winner!

The 28hp engine, a true petrol powerhouse!

My dealer is 1.5hrs away and carries no stock which saw me down longer than I wanted last season, so I thought I would trade and go deere.....this is a totally different machine, but one thing for sure, we all know Toro isn't known for great client services, well deere is as bad if not worse, the buck stops with your dealer as the companies don't care, so choose your dealer wisely!

My local Toro dealers are all fairly small shops but I've worked with them before and got pretty good service, not on Toro products though. Local Deere dealers are considerably larger but I haven't ever done business with them so I don't know how responsive they'd be.
