Got a check in the mail from one of my customers. He added $10.00 on to his bill to cover the gas increase. I guess it helps to be nice to the customer. :)

i mow this one mans mothers yard, about an acre, when ever he is there when i mow he gives me a 10 bill for a tip, the other day i was mowing a different yard on the other side of town, he sees me, pulls in the driveway and said, i really appreciate you takeing such good care of my mothers yard, and gives me another 20.... he actually went out of his way and stopped at a different yard, amazing..... :D

That is the sort of customer I dont mind doing little extras for. I would take care of this guy.... sounds like he appreciates your work and that is something thats hard to find from my experience.

One of the older ladies I cut for always brings me a large glass of cold, iced tea when I'm done. I never see her watching me but, when ever I come around the house for the last time headed to the truck, it's sitting on the front step with a Thank You note under it.
I hate her yard, terrible hill and a little under bid but, I know she appreciates the hard work and she shows it so I'll keep her next year. :)

Would not mind finding cash there instead. That would rock.

Yeah i had a client tell me that i could increase my mowing price due to extra mowing ( i was going to anyway) and she wanted more spraying. so i went up by 10 bucks and she told me she couldnt afford it.

I had a customer when I used to do maintainence that gave me a $50.00 on my birthday every year and a $50.00 at Christmas...That was really nice.

I have a customer that used to add $40 - $60 from time to time to the payment and write a note telling me it was for the increase in gas. It's a three acre yard and I bid it kind of low to get the job with the intention of raising it this year. They asked me to plow for them over the winter. I did not raise them this year and I have consistantly been given an extra $20 a month since the begining of the season. Great customers ! It's nice when someone actually appreciates you.

It's nice to be appreciated. I dont look for anything, but a simple "Thank you" goes a very long way, and shows that the client appreciated what I do. Its great to have somone tell you they appreciate what you do.

I have an old WW II vet, widowed lives right on the river. I told him at the first of the year I was raising my price for yard from 40 to 45. He kicked and screamed and threw a hissy fit, but said well ok then. From that point on he has been super nice and pays me 50 instead of the 45 I asked for. Tried only taking the 45 but he insist. Kind of weird since it pissed him off when I raised, but oh well.

There you go. You are well on your way to having enough for a hand held blower to knock that grass out of those beds.
