go to your local ford dealer tell him you want a 2001 f350 or f250 super duty 4x4 turbo diesel snow plow prep package and you can decide on the bed and cab, either a ext cab with a 6.5' bed or a reg cab and a 8' bed. your call that is what i would get though. but i would most likely go for the 350

Mo powa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much mowing are you going to be doing? Are you pulling an inclosed or open trailer? We use GM 3/4 and 1 tons. We abuse the heck out of them and we seem to do fine. The enclosed trailer with equipment weighs in at at around 5200 lbs. Add to that the 105 gallon transfer tank in the back of the truck and the fact that employees don't treat the truck the way you would gives good reason to not get anything less than a 3/4. As far as gas vs diesel that is a personal choice. I have all gas and I am satisified with them.

I have a 99" Ram 1500 reg cab short bed 4x4 with the 318 in it. My boss at another job has a 250 Poerstroke. I have diriven it and its awesome. It all depends on how much you want to pay. Make sure you get a locking diff. or a posi in it though. The extra 100-200 $ wil be well worth it.

Joshua,
I am a Chevy guy and have a 1998. Every Chevy I have ever owned has done me well. They have since changed the entire truck and I am not educated on the new model of Chevrolet/GMC HD series. I know they advertise to be some Hard Core Trucks and got a great review from Motor Trend. However, if I could go back in time and had to do it again I would probably go with a Ford F250 or 350. I really like how they look. Diesel would be nice, but that is up to you.
If you want to place the most emphasis on the color yellow, I think you should look into Dodge. They have the YELLOWEST yellow I have seen in years. I have read posts on here that they have lower weight ratings than the competition. It may have been they have the same rating but are heavier and therefore have to carry less load. I don't know if it is true, just thought I would toss it out for your consideration.
I imagine you are smart enough to get the tow package and snow package so everything is "heavied up" from the factory. I don't know how you feel about A/C, but I have found you get a better heating/defrosting system when you order the A/C. For the $800 or so it costs it is well worth it. It could make the difference in how well you tolerate working through a major snow/ice storm.
Good luck,
Mark

I bought a Chevy HD2500 back during December and could not be more happy. It loves fuel but not too bad on the highway end of driving and pulling my trailer. So far, I'd give it a "10". Now my 94 Blazer S-10, 4X4 has 176K on it and it still runs great.

I use a 85 Chevy C30 with a dump body, 6.2 diesel. Its a monster. Buying a Dodge quad 1500 sport next month. Those dodge trucks are great, look great and work hard!! I will still leave the plow and sander on the chevy, it would kill me to put sand salt in the bed....

I use a 1999 f150 extended with the 4.6 v-8
Tow package puts the tow limit at 6600 lbs. ( 4x4 )
move up to the 5.4 and I think the limit goes up to 7600 lbs. I get 13-14 mpg around town , and 18-19 mpg on hwy .
If I had the $$$$$ I'd have the f250 crew with the diesel.
All depends on how much $$ you want to spend, and how much lbs. you want to pull.

Didn't know if you meant you bought one for personal use or whether you were just kidding about the whole thing. Man, they fly though :) There were a few out at Bradenton this weekend running low to mid 12's with limited mods. It's pretty bad that Ford's street muscle comes in the form of a truck :)
